But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ - Matthew 4:4 NKJV
Like the body, the soul and spirit need to be nourished not by the food we feed our bodies but by the Word of God.
The body is corruptible. It ages through time even if we feed and pamper it regularly. No cosmetic procedure could stop aging. Yes, one may look younger than he or she should look without the cosmetic procedure, but it won’t stop the fact that all will get wrinkles, grow old, and die. When one dies, the body remains on earth.
On one hand, the soul is incorruptible. The soul is temporarily held until the resurrection and final judgment. The holding place may either be a place of comfort or torment. Whether a soul goes to a temporary comfort or torment depends on how one lives on earth, one's relationship with God, and obedience to God’s Word. (1 Thessalonians 4:13, Luke 16:22-23)
Unlike the body, the soul is eternal. If you deprive your soul of God, you are like an empty vessel.
Have you ever felt a void feeling inside and you tried to fill the void with things on earth but nothing can satisfy you? Well, that is the soul, thirsty for God. God created us with a spot that only Him can fulfill. He made us in a way that we can connect with Him.
The only way to satisfy the soul is through the Word of God and building a strong relationship with Him.
The Word of God is the Holy Bible. This is our ultimate guide in life. The Holy Bible contains Scriptures about God’s love, grace, mercy, and His plan of salvation.
Feeding the soul means reading and meditating the Bible daily (Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1:2-3) and obeying God’s Word.
God’s Word helps us realize what true love is.
God’s Word gives us wisdom when we are at a crossroads.
God’s Word gives us hope especially when we are on the verge of giving up.
God’s Word gives us peace that passes all understanding.
God’s Word gives us comfort in despair.
God’s Word gives us joy in persecution.
God is the source of life. If we disconnect ourselves from the source, we will not have life. If you want to live a fulfilled life, always connect to the Source.
“For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.” - Psalm 107:9 New King James Version
